We’re Going Green in April with a Special Embroidery Offer!

03/12/2012 - 12:52pm

While it may be fashionable to be “green” in March due to St. Patrick’s Day, BLT Shirt Printers is going “Green” in April! Our great city of Alexandria, where we work and live, is a leader among our Nation’s communities in the efforts to be eco-friendly. Alexandria has hybrid trollies running on King Street, our City Hall has a “vegetative green” roof on its courtyard structures, and our traffic lights are LED’s. So while our town is going green, we are too, and we have special offers in April for our Green –Loving customers!

Promotional Items Make an Impact in Education and Awareness Campaigns

03/09/2012 - 11:48am

One of the most prominent trade associations in the promotional products industry is in Washington, DC, this week. They are here to teach members of Congress about the power of promotional items in education and awareness campaigns. Since our offices and shop are about 10 miles from the White House, we’ve seen our fair share of inside-the-beltway stuff. But, we believe this is important because it demonstrates the power of promotional items.

Do You Have a Preference – 100% Cotton or 50-50 Blend?

03/02/2012 - 11:46am

This week we are asking our loyal readers to tell us which type of t -shirt material they prefer: 100% cotton, or a 50 - 50 blend? We can tell you that in our 30 years of experience in the custom screen printing and embroidery business, many of our customers have historically preferred 50% cotton- 50% polyester. Especially now with the increased popularity of performance wear fabrics. But, we want to know what you think and to help you decide we have a few facts to share with you.

The Reusable Grocery Tote – A No Brainer Choice for Anyone who Shops

03/01/2012 - 11:44am

We often write about grocery totes for a number of reasons not least of which is keeping informed of local laws being passed in so many towns and cities banning the use of plastic bags by retail establishments (with pretty hefty monetary penalties for ignoring them). But we also write about them because we are truly devotees of using them. For anyone who has gone to the grocery store – and we know that’s virtually all of you reading this right now – there is truly no more efficient, painless way to cart home your groceries than a reusable grocery tote bag. Let me demonstrate something that happened to us this past weekend after a trip to our local supermarket.

Beer Inspires Loyal Brand Fans

02/23/2012 - 11:41am

We always keep an eye out for stories about brand fans. You know a brand fan when you see one – the guy/gal who is so enamored of a brand that it permeates their life. Just think about the woman you saw on the subway with the initials LV on her purse, sneakers, jacket, and even painted on her fingertips. Or the guy at the ball game last week with his face painted in the team colors, wearing his favorite player’s jersey, and with the team’s logo shaved into the hair on the side of his head. It’s amazing what brand fans will do to show love and support of their favorite brand, and we came across one who’s created an almost love letter like homage to his favorite beer. So, it got us thinking about local breweries and what they can do to inspire loyal brand fans other than brewing fantastic beer!

Sponsoring Community Events Builds Your Company’s Brand

02/22/2012 - 11:36am

In almost every town across our great Nation, there are local volunteer groups and non-profits dedicated to improving the community. From the volunteer fire fighters to the shelters for abandoned pets to the food pantries for the homeless, these community based organizations are integral elements of a thriving town, and supporting them is the job for the locals. For local businesses, sponsoring events held by community organizations is not only good for the town, but for the company’s brand as well.

T-Shirts Needn’t be Cheesy for Tourists!

02/17/2012 - 11:35am

While on vacation recently, we travelled to one of the Country’s most popular vacation destinations, Florida! While the weather was about the same as it is here at our headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia (boo hoo!), it was nice to get away to see some palm trees! And, as we always do when we’re on holiday, we checked out the t-shirts for sale in the local shops. Here are some of our favorites and we’re happy to report that we didn’t see one cheesy “My Aunt went on vacation and all I got was this t-shirt” t-shirt the entire time!

Aye Matey – Get to Branding

02/16/2012 - 11:32am

Sometimes there are brands that are just so obviously recognizable that you instantly know the name of the product and company. It would be hard to miss the iconic Coca-Cola bottle or the Nike swoop or the Apple with the missing bite. What made us think about this is because we visited the oldest town in America this week and we saw one of the first internationally recognized brands – the Jolly Roger. Those pirates knew what they were doing and their brand struck fear in the hearts of everyone who spied it. And legends claim that if you engaged in the unauthorized use of the pirate’s brand you would be keelhauled (an awful penalty, trust us!). Bluebeard and the like understood the value of branding and hundreds of years later, your company should too. BLT Shirt Printers in Alexandria Virginia can help you out!

Get Your Brand Noticed

02/10/2012 - 7:55pm

This is a basic mandate for any business from a start-up venture to a well-established company. There are likely hundreds of thousands of books written about this subject, and entire industries devoted to doing the work. Your company’s brand is one of its most valuable assets so you must learn how to use it in traditional and nontraditional ways to improve your business’s bottom line.

Should Your Staff Wear Golf Shirts?

02/10/2012 - 11:30am

Since the advent of “casual Friday” during the 1990s, the golf shirt has become a staple wardrobe item for most men and many women. Truly, what’s not to like about a golf shirt? They are easy to launder, easy to wear, and a collared shirt is definitely business casual in every setting. Furthermore, golf is a very popular sport (more than 26 million Americans played in 2010) so it’s likely that one or more of your staff will actually wear their “work” golf shirt on the links! So the short answer to this blog post’s question is YES, your staff should wear golf shirts!
