Would a rose by any other name smell as sweet? Probably, but would anyone sniff it if we called it a skunk cabbage?

Iconic fashion house Yves Saint Laurent has decided it’s time for a change of style. The brand, long known for its intertwined YSL logo, will rename its ready-to-wear collection Saint Laurent Paris. The change came after Hedi Slimane took over the fashion house.

For now, Slimane says the famous YSL logo will continue to appear on bags and shoes, but the fashion house is looking into taking a new approach in the coming years.

In the near future, you’ll need more than a list when you go to the store. Last week Los Angeles made history by becoming the largest city in the US to ban plastic bags in supermarkets.

It’s not unreasonable. Single use plastic bags are often unable to be recycled, meaning that 90-percent of recycled bags end up in landfills. The average American family goes through about 600 bags a year.

In Maryland’s Montogomery County, they’ve ruled that you can use plastic bags at check out – as long as you’re willing to pay an extra 5-cents per bag.

Flying Dog Ales founder George Stranahan credits a former neighbor for the striking designs on his bottles. Stranahan lived next door to gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson, known by some as the guy Johnny Depp played in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

Thompson was never above having a few drinks and Stranahan’s brew must have hit the spot. Soon Thompson introduced him to British artist Ralph Steadman, who illustrated most of Thompson’s works. Soon Steadman was drawing eye catching designs for all Flying Dog products. Thompson even wrote an essay on ale for Stranahan to use in Flying Dog publicity.
